School Lunch
At lunchtime our delightful cook, Miss Lisa provides a choice of hot meals which are cooked on the premises. All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day.
A menu is available from the school office or can be downloaded here. This includes a vegetarian or baked potato option.
If your child has any specific dietary requirements, please speak to a member of staff so that we can cater for your child.
School dinners are always guaranteed to be both exciting and fun at Ilam and Miss Lisa always marks special occasions with a bespoke menu. Since Miss Lisa started at Ilam, we have annual Mother’s Day and Father’s Day lunches as well as Grandparent Lunches and picnic lunches where the children are able to eat outside during Summer term. Miss Lisa will also provide special themed lunches for the children to enjoy.
School meals must be paid for in advance either by providing payment daily in a named purse, weekly to the school office or by using the Parent Pay system.
Parents can also provide a packed lunch.
During lunchtime water is available, as it is throughout the school day. The children are also offered a glass of milk at lunchtimes.
If you feel that your child may be eligible for free school dinners, please contact the office for full details or visit your local Job Centre Plus.
School Milk: Every child under the age of five years is entitled to a daily third of a pint of milk free. Children aged five and over can participate in the Cool Milk scheme or our own pay as you go milk scheme. Milk is distributed to the children mid-morning.
Fruit: Ilam School have joined the 5 A DAY school fruit and vegetable scheme, which entitles all children aged four to six to a free piece of fruit or vegetable each school day.
Snacks: The following snacks can be provided during the morning and incur the specified charges:
- Toast – 38p per day
- Pancakes 49p
- Fresh Orange and Apple Juice – 82p per day
- Milkshakes- 82p
- Milk – 38p per day
