I am chair of governors at Ilam School; a position that I feel privileged to hold, and one which allows me to gain an insight into how this wonderful school is managed by a dedicated team of staff, at all levels. I am employed as an airline pilot, and my son is a current pupil at Ilam. My wife is a volunteer, assisting in a variety of roles including reading with the children, playground and swimming duties. Ilam School and its surrounding environment is, without doubt, a special place and I feel it is my duty to assist both teaching staff and fellow Governors in any way to enhance the experience for the pupils and ensure the long term existence of the school.
Jon Cushing, Chair of Governors

I am currently the Vice Chair of Governors and have been a Foundation Governor at the school since 2014. I used to attend Ilam Primary school myself and I feel very fortunate that my three children are also being educated at this wonderful, caring school. Before starting my family I used to work in primary education and I am pleased that I am able to use these skills in my role on the governing body. Ilam Primary School is very important to me and I am honored to be on the governing body and to be in a position to be able to support the school.

Mrs Barbara Temperton, Foundation Governor

I have been in involved with Ilam school since my children were taught here, I care very much for the school, it is the heart of the village and to see it thriving means so much.
Why is it special? The environment is so important, to be surrounded by beautiful countryside is good for the soul and to be taught to appreciate nature will never be forgotten. The caring family atmosphere is a wonderful start to every child’s schooling and the small school means every child is known and valued.

Mrs Cathy Rowlinson, Foundation Governor

Mrs Linda Hack

I am very excited to have been appointed as a Foundation Governor in September 2022 having had a passion for education all my working life. I was a teacher of the Deaf, latterly leading a sensory team who supported children and young people in mainstream and special schools to access the curriculum alongside their peers.
When I moved to the area, with my husband, in October 2020, I wanted to give something back to the local community and was eager to find a school where I could help make a difference. Ilam is such a unique place, in a wonderful setting, with a very caring atmosphere. I feel very proud and privileged to be a Governor here and hope that I can use my skills and Christian values to support the school to achieve the best for everybody.
Mrs Julie Rowland, Foundation Governor

I have worked at Ilam School in various posts for many years. I have been on the Governing Body for the majority of that time. I have had links to Ilam School all my life. I am keen to ensure that the school continues to be the caring environment that is welcoming and an enjoyable place for children to learn and thrive.
