P.E and Swimming

We have PE on Tuesdays and you will need to come to school with your PE kit. Our PE theme this half term is Basketball. We will be outdoors where possible so please ensure you have warm PE clothes such as jogging bottoms and a jumper. We swim every Thursday afternoon, during the Autumn and Spring terms at Blore Hall. Please ensure swimming kit is brought into school.  You may be asked to bring in pyjamas as part of your lifesaving lessons.

Forest School (Led by Tanglewood)

Our Forest School session is held on a Friday afternoon. Please ensure children bring in their Forest School clothes and outdoor shoes/wellies. In winter and wet weather they should also have wellies and a waterproof coat/jacket. Your child will return home in their forest school kit, so please ensure they take their school clothes home with them.

See the Forest School page for photographs of what the children get up to!

Homework, Spellings and Reading

Children should read their reading book daily and record this in their reading diary.  On Monday I check every reading diary and merits, stamps and prizes are awarded accordingly. Children need to read to an adult at least once a week.  When they have completed their book, they should choose another. We encourage the children to read a wide range of genres to develop their love for reading.

Children will receive a new set of spellings every Monday. Our spelling test takes place the following Monday so please ensure they practice each day. In addition to this, maths homework is set on a Monday, due in the following Monday.

Sometimes, a half termly homework menu is sent out to parents – see the image to the left. The expectation is one task, additional tasks are optional.

Spelling lists for each stage can be found on our curriculum page.

Times Tables Rockstars

We test Times Tables regularly and the children are encouraged to login to their Times Tables Rock Stars account to help them improve the accuracy and speed of their recall.  This is particularly useful to support them with their MTC in Year 4 and SATS in Year 6.

All children have their TTRS login stuck inside their reading diary. If you have any issues with your TTRS account, have lost your login or password then please speak to me.
